| Family and Friends,
The 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) is currently in An Najaf, Iraq, fighting terrorism, training the Iraqi soldiers and policemen, and at the same time helping the local leaders develop a political infrastructure based on freedom and liberty.
The Battalion Commander of this great battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Mike Hilliard, would like to start a clothing drive for the young children of An Najaf. I did this when I was deployed the first time (on a smaller scale), and it was an amazing experience. My family and friends gathered over 2000 lbs of clothes in the States that my platoon disseminated to the children of Bani Sa'ad, Iraq. It was one of the most rewarding things I've done as a Soldier.
I ask that you forward this email along to Church Groups, Schools, and any other great patriots you know. This is a great opportunity to get rid of some old clothes, and at the same time, help innocent children in an unfortunate situation. Here are the details:
-Don't send new clothes. Send used clothes that you would normally take to the Salvation Army or Goodwill. Only send clothes/shoes that would fit a boy or girl 15 years old or younger.
-Once you've collected clothing, box it and send it directly to this address from wherever you are:

On behalf of the battalion, thank you for your continued support. Attached (Click here) is a picture of some children my platoon handed clothes out to in the early months of 2004 in Bani Sa'ad, Iraq.
Sincerely,
