This is a view of the interior of a bird house in central Illinois USA taken with a small camera mounted inside the roof. You are looking down towards the floor of the box with the entrance hole at the top of the picture. The house is mounted on the east side of a building under the eaves and is facing east.
We're not having a lot of luck with the camera views this summer. We've had one successful nesting this summer but the camera view was blocked completely by nesting material. We hope that the birds will rebuild for a second nesting and that we'll have better luck capturing the adventure with the camera. We had three successful nestings in the summer of 2007 and two in 2008. The camera image updates every 5 minutes so please click on your "Refresh" button to insure you've got the most current picture!.
ABOUT THE CAMERA
What you are seeing on this page is a frame capture (still picture) from a full-motion miniature color video camera. The camera actually sends live picture and sound to either a VCR, DVR, or directly to a television so you can see and hear all the activity going on inside the house in real time. The illumination comes from infrared LED's built into the camera so that you can see everything that happens in the house day and night. This type of lighting does not harm or disturb the birds.
